Employment Relations Amendment Bill: What employers need to know

Buddle Findlay invites you to join us for a seminar focusing on the Employment Relations Amendment Bill.

Significant changes to New Zealand’s employment landscape are imminent.  The Employment Relations Amendment Bill passed its third reading on 17 February 2026.  Once the Bill receives Royal assent, the majority of the reforms will come into force.

Join us as Emma von VehHamish Kynaston, Peter Chemis and other members of our Wellington-based team unpack what this means for employers, HR professionals, unions and employees.

Key changes that will be discussed include:

  • The new contractor “gateway” test
  • Changes to remedies and contributing behaviour
  • The new remuneration threshold for personal grievances.

Please feel free to invite other members of your team, or anyone else you know who may be interested in attending the seminar.

For those that are Wellington-based, we would love to see you at our offices.  There will also be a Teams link available for those that can't attend in person.
